Nokia 7 Plus Full Review |

The Nokia 7 Plus upholds the iconic brand’s promise of reliability, ease of use and design innovation. The phone delivers on all three fronts with a premium metal unibody design, high-end performance and clean, stock Android. It also has a good camera marred only by slow processing speeds which could be fixed via a software update. All good things come at a price and so does the Nokia 7 Plus at Rs 25,999 but unlike last time when all the Nokia phones felt overpriced, this one manages to justify the higher asking rate. ------- Subscribe to Digit for the latest video updates. Stay connected with us... --Thanks Music - The 7+ is constructed from a single piece of aluminium and as a result has a heft and density rarely seen at this price. The sides are straight and sharp – maybe slightly too sharp – and the back has a tough plastic feel. Apparently that ‘plastic feel’ feel is due to the six layers of ceramic paint that gives the rear its matte colour. The 6-inch 18:9 display packs an FHD+ resolution and looks great. It’s sharp, colourful and surprisingly bright – a feature often lacking in the mid-range market. There’s some decent power inside too. A Snapdragon 660 runs the show, paired with 4GB of RAM, and there’s 64GB of storage plus microSD expansion. Nokia claims you’ll get two days of use from a single charge of the 3800mAh battery – whether this claim is true remains to be seen, as very few phones actually manage to go more than a single day. Related: What is Android One? You’ll also find Android One as the operating system of choice – this is basically a stock version of Oreo 8.1 with promised updates for two years and security patches for three. There’s also no duplicate software on board, and only Google’s own apps are pre-installed. The main camera has a 12-megapixel sensor and an f/1.7 aperture, while the secondary 13-megapixel sensor has telephoto capabilities for 2x zoom. On the front there’s a 10-megapixel selfie shooter, though Nokia claims these are ‘super pixels’, which I assume means they’re slightly larger. Each camera has been made in partnership with Zeiss. I haven’t been able to properly test out the cameras here yet, so you’ll have to wait for the full review for an in-depth look. Clean software, a good screen, multiple cameras and a nice design are positive points and there aren’t any obvious downsides. It’ll be interesting to see how the camera performs – but I am never really expecting too much at this price. The camera has Zeiss optics, and it performs well. We didn’t see much shutter lag when tapping the shutter icon, and the results looked good. The rear dual-camera system has a 12-megapixel and a 13-megapixel lens, and they both allow for 2x optical zoom, as well as “bothies,” which is when you take a photo or video with the front and rear camera at the same time. HMD Global took a conservative approach with most of its lineup last year in terms of hardware, and faced some criticism as a result. The company told Gadgets 360 that it has taken that feedback and made improvements to its new offerings. The Nokia 7 Plus, in fact, is one of the first smartphones in India to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, which has eight cores, with four clocked at 1.8GHz and the other four clocked at 2.2GHz. These are Kryo 260 cores that are manufactured on the 14nm FinFET process, with an integrated Adreno 512 graphics processor. The phone also has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which is expandable with a microSD card of up to 256GB in the hybrid dual-SIM tray. The 6-inch IPS display sports a Full HD+ resolution and has Gorilla Glass 3 for protection. It has good viewing angles and gets bright enough to be visible outdoors. Other specifications on the Nokia 7 Plus include Bluetooth 5, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, GPS, GLONASS, and NFC. It also features an ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, gyroscope, hall sensor, and an e-compass. There is support for 4G and VoLTE on the primary SIM, while the second SIM is restricted to 3G and 2G networks.

The Nokia magic is Back!
7 Plus is as close as it gets to the perfect Android mid-premium phone. For a price tag of Rs. 26,000, you get a great looking workhorse that lasts for 2 days on a single charge and shoots great pictures.
